ID GENERATOR

Generate UUID v4, v7, v1, v5, ULID, NanoID, and CUID2 identifiers right in your browser. Compare formats, understand trade-offs, and pick the right ID scheme for your project. Everything runs locally — zero server calls, complete privacy.

FORMAT

Random 128-bit identifier (RFC 4122). Most widely used format.

ABOUT ID FORMATS

Choosing the right ID format matters for performance, sortability, and interoperability. UUID v4 is the universal default — random, widely supported, and safe. But modern systems increasingly prefer UUID v7 or ULID for their lexicographic sorting, which makes database index scans dramatically faster.

NanoID is ideal when you need short, URL-safe identifiers — e.g., public-facing resource IDs in APIs. At 21 characters with the default alphabet, it offers the same collision resistance as UUID v4 with ~30% fewer characters. The alphabet and length are fully customizable.

CUID2 is designed for distributed systems where IDs must be monotonically increasing within a process but still safe across processes. It's the default in Prisma ORM and widely used in the Node.js ecosystem.

UUID v5 generates a deterministic UUID from a namespace + name pair using SHA-1. The same input always produces the same UUID — useful for content-addressable storage or stable IDs derived from known values.

Privacy note: All ID generation runs entirely in your browser. No data is transmitted to any server.
