ABOUT TRACEROUTE

What is Traceroute? Traceroute is a network diagnostic tool that maps the complete path packets take from your computer to a destination server. By sending packets with incrementally increasing Time-To-Live (TTL) values, traceroute reveals every router (hop) along the route, providing critical insights into network topology, routing decisions, and potential bottlenecks.

How It Works: Our online traceroute tool sends probe packets to the target host, recording the IP address and response time of each intermediate router. The visual path display shows hop-by-hop latency with color-coded performance indicators: green for excellent response times (<20ms), yellow for acceptable latency (20-100ms), and red for high latency or timeouts. This enables quick identification of network issues and slow routing points.

Features: Visual network path display, per-hop latency measurements across multiple probes, automatic timeout detection, configurable maximum hops (15-64), average response time calculations, IP address resolution with hostname lookup, completion status tracking, and detailed route analysis for comprehensive network diagnostics.

Common Use Cases: Network troubleshooting and performance analysis, diagnosing slow website connections, identifying routing issues and packet loss, verifying CDN and server locations, analyzing network topology and infrastructure, detecting network congestion points, monitoring international routing paths, and validating VPN or proxy configurations. Essential for system administrators, network engineers, and DevOps professionals.

Privacy & Security: All traceroute operations are performed server-side with no data storage. Your IP address and trace results are never logged or shared. The tool operates using standard ICMP/UDP protocols, respecting network privacy while providing accurate diagnostic information. No registration or personal information required.
